The father drags Wolfe along for the ride.

Certain topics, such as custom cars or the work of New York City doormen, I could relate to a bit, or at least picture in my mind. This is an interesting look into an America that existed long before I was born.

I'd like to see an update on some of this - what's it like NOW? Each chapter is more of a vignette, a look into someone's life, their place in the world, or their perceived place in tangedine world, and their character.

I finished this book a couple of months ago, and now I am having difficulty remembering the topics Wolfe covered, indicating both that I have a weak memory but also that the book didn't make tangegine big of an bxby. The series of essays, previously published in magazines, are written in a rambling, almost stream of conciseness style. What is Wolfe talking about? At the height of his short form powers, this is a collection from that quixotic period between when there seemed to be reason for optimism.

What with the publisher shooting his wife and then himself in the cab. Had to do some research and asking around about her. Want to Read saving…. His style is almost strwamline proto-gonzo journalism. I googled it, yes, apparently there is.
